We deliberately don't show photos with children here. The Rasselbande's privacy comes first.

Who looks after your child

At the Rasselbande, Sandra Lutz is there for your child every day. So your child has one familiar person who knows them well.

She takes time for you at drop-off and pick-up, and tells you how the day went and what's new, like a new word.

  • Qualified childminder with a national certificate
  • 11 years of experience as a childminder
  • Paediatric first aid course
  • Member of the Tagesmütter- und Elternverein Biberach (childminders' and parents' association)

How we care for children

“The task of the environment is not to shape the child, but to allow it to reveal itself.”

  • Led by needs

Every child has their own rhythm. We notice when they need closeness, rest, movement or something to eat, and shape the day around it.

  • Non-violent communication

We talk to children at eye level, take their feelings seriously and settle arguments with words instead of punishment.

  • Inclusion

Every child is welcome here, just as they are.

  • Indoors and outdoors

We play, sing, dance and do crafts to match the season. And when the weather is good, we head out into nature.

Frequently asked questions

Your question isn't here? Send us a message, we're happy to help.

How much does a place cost?

Childminding is subsidised by the youth welfare office (Jugendamt) of the district of Biberach. Your parental contribution depends, among other things, on how many hours your child is looked after. When we meet, we'll gladly explain how the subsidy works and what to expect.

From what age do you take children?

We look after children aged 0 to 6, from babies to pre-schoolers.

How many children are there at the same time?

No more than 5. There are 10 places in total because the Rasselbande is open for long hours: some children come in the morning, others only at midday, once the first ones have been picked up.

How flexible are the hours?

We're here for you Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. Within these hours we agree days and times with you: part-time or full-time, mornings, afternoons or early and late hours.

How does settling in work?

Gently and at your child's pace, following the Berlin model:

  1. First we get to know each other. Tell us as much as you can about your child.
  2. For three days you stay with your child for about an hour, without separating.
  3. On the fourth day you leave the room for the first time, for 20 to 30 minutes.
  4. After that the time without you grows step by step. Sandra gradually takes over nappy changes and meals.
  5. Finally you drop your child off and leave, but stay reachable.

Settling in usually takes about two weeks, some children need longer. It's best to plan enough time for it.

What do the children eat?

Breakfast together and a warm, freshly cooked lunch every day. After the nap there's fresh fruit. Let us know what we should keep in mind for your child, for example allergies or intolerances.

What should my child bring?

A cuddly toy or comforter is always welcome, especially when saying goodbye in the morning is still hard. Plus spare clothes, because it can get muddy outside.

Please bring only one toy from home, sturdy and small enough to fit in your child's cubby. Toy weapons stay at home.

What if my child is ill?

Please keep your child at home and let us know. After fever, vomiting or diarrhoea, your child can come back once they have been symptom-free for 24 hours without medication. If your child becomes ill during the day, Sandra will call you to pick them up.

This protects the other children and Sandra herself, so that care can continue for everyone.

And if Sandra is ill?

Then your child can be looked after by another childminder through the youth welfare office. We'll explain exactly how this works when we meet.

How does the move to kindergarten work?

Please let us know at least four weeks in advance. That leaves time to talk with your child about it and look at picture books on the topic. On the last day we bake a cake together, and your child gets a keepsake of the Rasselbande, such as a small photo album.

How do we get a place?

Send us a WhatsApp message or give us a call. We'll arrange a time for you and your child to meet us and see the rooms. If everything fits, we put the care hours, meals and everything important in a childcare contract. You apply for the subsidy at the youth welfare office.
